Image Registration in ASL-Perfusion Imaging of Kidney - Impact on Image Quality
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction Dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) is an emerging technique for a more accurate assessment of local renal function [1]. Recent findings on NSF and disease status in certain patient groups permit the application of contrast agents. An alternative approach to non-invasive perfusion quantification is arterial spin labelling (ASL) [2]. However, ASL techniques suffer from low SNR and especially in abdominal imaging, from organ movements, e.g. breathing. In this work, we analyzed the impact of automatic image registration on signal quality and increase of SNR by averaging in ASL kidney perfusion imaging.

Simulation and patient studies of scatter correction in cardiac SPECT imaging
Introduction: Myocardial perfusion imaging is a nuclear medicine imaging method that is used to detect coronary artery diseases. One of the main sources of error in this imaging method is the detection of Compton scattered photons in the photopeak energy window used for data acquisition. This results in the degradation of the image contrast, and therefore decreases the...
متن کاملDifferential impact of multi-focus fan beam collimation with L-mode and conventional systems on the accuracy of myocardial perfusion imaging: Quantitative evaluation using phantoms
Objective(s): A novel IQ-SPECTTM method has become widely used in clinical studies. The present study compares the quality of myocardial perfusion images (MPI) acquired using the IQ-SPECTTM (IQ-mode),conventional (180° apart: C-mode) and L-mode (90° apart: L-mode) systems. We assessed spatial resolution, image reproducibility and quantifiability using various physical phantoms. Materials and Me...
متن کاملEvaluation of attenuation correction process in cardiac SPECT images
Introduction: Attenuation correction is a useful process for improving myocardial perfusion SPECT and is dependent on activity and distribution of attenuation coefficients in the body (attenuation map). Attenuation artifacts are a common problem in myocardial perfusion SPECT. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of attenuation correction using different a...
متن کاملArterial spin-labeling in routine clinical practice, part 1: technique and artifacts.
The routine use of arterial spin-labeling (ASL) in a clinical population has led to the depiction of diverse brain pathologic features. Unique challenges in the acquisition, postprocessing, and analysis of cerebral blood flow (CBF) maps are encountered in such a population, and high-quality ASL CBF maps can be generated consistently with attention to quality control and with the use of a dedica...
متن کاملPediatric perfusion imaging using pulsed arterial spin labeling.
PURPOSE To test the feasibility of pediatric perfusion imaging using a pulsed arterial spin labeling (ASL) technique at 1.5 T. MATERIALS AND METHODS ASL perfusion imaging was carried out on seven neurologically normal children and five healthy adults. The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the perfusion images along with T1, M(0), arterial transit time, and the temporal fluctuation of the ASL ima...
